Cross Linking
Organofunctional silanes have both organic and inorganic functional reactivity, centred on a silicon atom. They become reactive when exposed to atmospheric moisture or with the addition of water and can be used as crosslinking agents in a wide variety of resin systems used in the manufacture of adhesives and coatings.
The chemical bonds between the resin and fillers can be improved using silane for the following benefits:
- Thermal stability
- Hardness
- Chemical resistance
- Abrasion resistance
- Wet adhesion
- Higher filler loading
- End-capping for polyurethane's
- Tear strength
