Adhesion Promotion
Adhesion promotion can be achieved in two ways
- The use of an external primer applied to the substrate.
- The addition of an adhesion promoter during the formulation of the adhesive or coating
Primers
ACC Silicones have a range of primers available for use with most silicone elastomers

Silane adhesion promoters
Organofunctional silanes have both organic and inorganic functional reactivity, centred on a silicon atom. They become reactive when exposed to atmospheric moisture or with the addition of water and can be used as adhesion promoters in a wide variety of resin systems used in the manufacture of adhesives and coatings.
The chemical bonds between the resin and fillers can be improved using silane for the following benefits:
- Wet adhesion
- Substrate adhesion
- In hot and humid conditions
- Adhesion to Nylon, SMC, Acrylics, PVC and others
